New Year

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

~Jeremiah 29:11

What does the new year mean to you? A fresh start? A new chapter of your life? An adventure waiting to be discovered? To me, the new year is like a mystery that can only be solved by living through it. Yes it is a new beginning, and there are many discoveries to be made, but really, nobody knows what the future holds. No one but God.

As we step into the year 2011, think about what you want to do, where you want to go, who you want to be. Set goals, make resolutions! Not just ones about finally cleaning your room, or beating a level on your favourite video game, but ones about how you can live to glorify God!

The new year is like God taking your slate and wiping it clean, saying 'here, try again with a fresh start.' So take that slate and make a work of art! Make God proud and show Him the best you there is! Make this year the best one yet!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Snowflakes

I love snowflakes. There aren't two on this planet that are identical. They're all unique! They're like little white fluffy stars, and if there is enough, they make snow! With lots of snowflakes, you can ski, snowboard, sled, skate, make a snowman, or a snow angel, the list goes on and on! But by themselves they are useless.

Snowflakes are like people, you need a lot to make a difference. Many individuals have made big changes in the world, but they all had some help along the way. We need each other. We depend on each other. You can't play soccer without a team. You can't perform a play without a cast. It's teamwork. There's no 'i' in snowflake.

This Christmas, let's share all the joy and happiness to make Christ's birthday the best one yet! Maybe one person can't make a change or difference, but a smile can! Let the white fluffy stars of snow remind us of The Light of the world that shines down on us everyday. Spread the love, the hope, and the Light of Christmas. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Chirtsmas Poem

Christmas is 'round the corner,
Christmas is almost here,
Christmas is very close,
Christmas is oh, so near.

Christmas brings many smiles,
Christmas brings lots of lights,
Christmas brings people together,
Christmas brings snowy nights.

Christmas began with an answer,
Christmas began with a sacrifice,
Christmas began with Jesus,
Christmas began with Christ.

Christmas

This special holiday may seem so far away to even think about, or it may be something that has been on your mind a lot. Christmas has been in my head for a while. When you think of Christmas, what is the first thing you think of? A christmas tree? Presents? Santa claus? Snow? Well, sadly, many of us do.

Have we all forgotten the real purpose for celebrating Christmas? Maybe the first 6 letters might be a clue? Christ! Jesus Christ! The world has been changing the reason for this special celebration. It has been turning this happy, miraculous time into something greedy and silly.

Where did this random, fat, jolly santa dude come from? Who ever thought up the idea about a white-bearded old man visiting every child in their sleep to give them gifts? Or what about Rudolph? A reindeer with a bright red nose that flies? Kids get so caught up about writing to santa, putting out cookies and milk, and making wish lists, that they completely forget about the true meaning of Christmas.

Christmas is a time to give. Give to others as God has given to us. He sent His son to die for us! Now is that awesome or what? I think it'is a great gift! So giving to others isn't bad, but the thing is, people start to focus on receiving gifts more than the gift we have received! On Christmas day, as you open a gift, or play in the snow, keep in mind the true meaning of Christmas.

Prince Charming

We've all been there. You crush on him, and he doesn't even know you exist. As much as you seem to make yourself noticable, he acts as if you were invisible. Then, after awhile, you mature and move on. You realize he wasn't worth all the fuss, and forget about him after a month.

Though have you ever thought about it the other way around? That there is someone out there who likes you? Well guess what? There is! There is someone out there who loves you! Who cares for you! That someone is up in heaven, and has been watching out for you ever since you step foot on this planet.

God is waiting. He is waiting for you to realize that you don't need to go searching for a lover. He is waiting for you to come to Him when you are ready. He will wait. He will wait because you are just that special to Him. The moment you give your heart to Him, He will love you forever. Isn't that the kind of relationship you want?

I'm not saying that you have to become a nun and never marry. God will bring the right guy into your life. So don't waste your time searching for him. Live your life! Because if you spend your time sitting in a tower, you'll miss out on some really great adventures! And who knows, maybe the guy for you is right around the corner!

Each Day

↓ Like the new watermark? ↓

Each day is like a chance, a chance to make a difference.

Each day is like a gift, a gift that should be cherished.

Each day is like a leaf, a leaf among many others.

Each day is like a baby, a baby with a fresh, new start.

Each day is like a wave, a wave that makes up the sea.

Each day is like a shoe, a shoe that doesn't fit all.

Each day is like a swing, a swing that goes up and down.

Each day is His, His day is supposed to be lived.

Going Slow

No need to hurry, no need to rush.
Where do you need to go?
It all can wait, stop for a while,
You've just got to take it slow.

Don't zoom through life,
Smell the roses, take a break,
You've got plenty of time.
Slow and steady wins the race.

You don't want to miss out,
Speed is not the key,
Life's not a competition,
Slow is what you've got to be.

Turtles like to move slow,
And they have a long lifespan,
Maybe we should be like them,
They've got a pretty good plan.

If you spend your whole life rushing,
Where do you think you'll get?
We all end up in the same place,
So have you caught on yet?

Don't go fast, enjoy the ride,
It is better that way.
So when you're asked why you go slow,
You will know what to say!

Writing

I love to write. It's my passion. But I'm starting to realize how hard writing can be. Writing posts isn't too difficult. It's when I start writing for contests, and I know my writing has to be the absolute best it can be to win.

The part I am having trouble with is editing and critiquing. It's not fun. I like my writing, but when I see all the things I have to do to make it better, it completely exhausts me.

When I take a break, and think about it all, editing is a part of writing. I love to write, and I'm not just going to stop when I get fed up or frustrated with my writing. Even though editing isn't something I like to do, I know it'll make my writing better, and maybe worthy of first place for that contest. So I'm going to write, and edit, and love it all.

Editing is like obstacles in life. If you stop at every one saying 'I can't do this' then you'll never finish the race. I'm trying to not be like that. I can overcome any obstacle that comes my way because I have God. He'll help me shape and edit my writing, and make it something beautiful, just like me.

"I Love You!"

Love is very powerful and meaningful. When you love someone, you care for them and want what's best for them. You encourage them, and want them to be successful. If they were in trouble, you would help them in a heartbeat. A loved one is a person who can brighten up your day just by smiling and giving you a thoughtful hug. This extraordinary person, is someone you feel you couldn't live without.

Love isn't just a word or a feeling. It is something bigger and more complex. We know what it is, but just can't explain using words. It is much more than just a ring, or a kiss, or a heart-shaped card. It comes from your heart.

I love many people. My family, my friends, and most importantly God. And I know He loves me back. He loves everyone. Whether you're poor, rich, young, old, tall, short, happy, sad...whoever you are...He loves you a whole lot! Isn't that awesome?

So tonight, before you go to bed, say a prayer, and remember everything He has done, and don't forget to say ''I love you!''

Wealthy to be Healthy?

Have you ever noticed that organic foods are always more expensive than other regular food products. Or that a bag of baked chips costs more than your average salty ones. Or that going to a fast food restaurant is way cheaper than going to one with more healthier choices.

Everyone always tells you to eat healthy, to have a healthy body. It's easy, just eat from the four food groups, and eat other snack foods in moderation. But when healthier foods become pricey, and unhealthier foods are more reasonably priced, is it still so easy to make the right decisions when you're at the grocery store?

With the rising economy, costs shoot up too. Many are faced with this difficult food decision everyday. Some find it hard to even get food to survive.

Well, we've already established that money doesn't grow on trees. So now what? What's the solution? Get a good job, earn big bucks, and then you can buy every healthy food product you see? No.

People like you and me can help. We can all be the solution. We can help those who are less fortunate. God uses people everyday to help others! Let God use you.

We were made to help each other, and it's not that hard! Volunteer at food banks and food drives. You could solve people's food dilemmas by simply lending a helping hand. Eat healthy and help others do it too! You don't have to be wealthy to be healthy.

His Work of Art

The colours of the leaves in the fall are just beautiful. I look around at the gorgeous scenery and am amazed by God's wonderful work of art. He made all of this!

I like art. I like to make things, and be creative. I enjoy making cards, and designing clothes, writing poems, and using my imagination to create. God likes to do this too! The world we live in, every person on this planet, every leaf, every tree . . . it all contributes to a bigger picture, His masterpiece!

God's creations inspires me! I love His artwork, and so do many others! A numerous amount of people have painted, drawn, and sketched pictures of trees, flowers, mountains . . . all parts of His work of art! God inspires many people!

God's art makes people think. Everyone interprets His work in many different ways. When I see a baby bird I think about journeys, and my life ahead of me. Seeing beautiful flowers helps me to not forget to slow down to admire things more closely, and not rush through life. When I spot a colourful leaf changing, it reminds me of the beauty of His Work of Art.
What does His Work of Art make you think?

Fashion

Whether you know the latest trends, or you don't have a clue about fashion, everyone wants to look their best. Even if you don't care what your classmate thinks about your new shoes, we all value other's opinions. We are all different, so one person's view on clothes may not be the same as another's. But if you trust the person enough, their judgment will be more meaningful and important.

Clothes can say things about your personality. I know you shouldn't judge someone by what they're wearing, but if you meet a girl who dresses very messy, it isn't a brain twister to figure out that she isn't super tidy. If your friend has a variety of mixed styles, she might be the kind of person who is adventurous and likes to try new things! Your choice of clothing can express you, and what you like.

Also, it's good to have your own style. Don't always wear what is popular. Instead, try new things, and be a trend setter! And be proud of what you wear because in the end, if you don't like it, it isn't you!

But don't forget, your wardrobe isn't everything! What matters most is the the person wearing the clothes! Anyway, we don't get into heaven based on how many cool clothes we had, or how well we could match colours. God sees us for who we are, not what we wear.

What do your clothes say about you?

Dreams

'Take my dreams
Come and give them wings '

~Britt Nicole

Many have dreams, wishes, and hopes for their life. Some dreams may be unrealistic or deep ambitions, but all dreams can come true, big or small. The sky is your limit, so dream big! You just need to have a little determination, perseverance, and a whole lot of faith!

God will help us reach our goals. He wants us to fulfill our dreams. With Him, nothing is impossible. But do our dreams match up with His plans for our lives? Are they the things He wants us to do? God has a special purpose for us, and wants us to follow Him. So take your dreams, and give them to God! Give them to Him, and let Him give them wings!

I'm Not Alone

In this world,
I'm living in.
God is with me,
Through thick and thin.
He'll never leave,
Or run away,
He is here,
Here to stay.
I will not fear,
I will not hide,
He'll stand by me,
By my side.
When I feel ,
I'm on my own,
I'll always remember,
I'm not alone.

Hanging On

Things change,
When we don't want them to,
Though God has a plan,
For me and you,
He hears our prayers,
He hears our plea,
He knows what's best,
For you, and me!
He is my Savior,
He is my friend,
He'll be with me,
Until the end,
And even after,
When my life is done,
He'll stay by me,
And we'll have some fun!
I trust in Him,
He is my base,
With Him in my life,
I know I'm safe.
Things will be okay,
It will all work out,
God is it control,
And I have no doubt.
Through my life,
I will stand strong,
I will keep him close, I'm
Hanging On.

Hope you like this video. This song, helps me to stay strong, and to keep hanging on!

Small but Mighty

“Good things come in small packages”

~ Proverb quote

People say you have to start small to be big. I am already halfway there!

I am small. Petite. But I am strong! And still growing. In height, but also as a christian.

In a flood, it is the small, little trees that survive through the strong waves of the storm. They can bend, and flow with the water, unlike the bigger, stronger trees, which snap. The big ones grow their roots tightly in the ground, making a secure foundation, which is useless during a flood.

We need to be able to flow, like the small trees. Flow with God. If we are stubborn and grow our roots tightly in the ground, not willing to try new things and take risks, God can't use us in His plan for our lives. Then, we could snap, and drift away from God.

We need to loosen our roots, let God do what he wants with our lives because he knows what's best for us. If we do, we will survive even through the strongest storms.

So being small isn't so bad, it's actually great! And even though I may be small in size, I have a big heart, a big smile, and a big love for God. And I will flow, and let Him take me where He wants. I am small, but mighty!

Give A Helping Hand

I am a soon-to-be environmentalist, a tree-hugger, a recycler, an earth-loving teen who wants there to be a brighter (and cleaner) tomorrow.

Knowing what could happen in the future with global warming makes me want to help. Help make this world a better place for everyone.

Anyone can help. Just by recycling, reducing, and reusing you can make a difference. And I'm not going to stop there.

I want to invent. Invent things to filter car pollution, save the trees, cut down on plastic water bottles and much much more!

I want to be government. Create laws to ban plastic bags, enforce littering fines, make earth day last all year round. And I plan to pursue my dreams!

I want our home, earth, to be here for further generations, and for it to be a healthy place to live. Instead of concentrating on the problems we've created, I want to focus on how I can fix them for a greener future! We can all give a helping hand.

Holy Holes

Holes can be in the heart from a break-up, in the soul from a loss, in the mind from a failure.

We need to fill them to continue on with our journey. Fill them with love, God's love.

Though not all of these holes are completely bad. God also gives us holes to make us stronger. To teach us life lessons. In the big picture, they have purpose and meaning.

We don't always understand their purpose in our life. We just see the problems that God allows to take place. Then we question these holes, these problems. Sometimes we get mad at God, but really, God is trying to help us grow. Eventually we realize that all these obstacles are helping holes . . . holy holes.

Fun

Fun is like beauty. It's definition can only be determined by the eye of the beholder.

For me, fun is climbing a tree in my front yard, going to the mall with a BFF, eating a foot-long hot dog and drinking a milkshake when dressed up as a pizza delivery person, reading stories to 20 little campers, listening to Britt Nicole in my room as I make a doll with my friend, watching a movie in the theaters as I eat popcorn, going to Chinatown with my family to buy yummy buns from a bakery, learning more about God at my VBS camp, and blogging about my writing and waiting for comments! That's my fun.

What is your fun?

What Money Can't Buy

Money is used for lots of things,
Food, clothes, puzzles and dolls,
They are all items that can be found,
In many shopping malls.

But compassion, trust and love,
Have no cost, fine, or fee.
They aren’t your average product,
They are more important you see.

No one can put them in your hand,
No one can take them away,
They can never be lost,
You’ll have them day after day.

They can’t be purchased or sold.
Or can be a generous loan,
These very special qualities,
You have to find on your own.

All these qualities make you rich,
Even though you may not own a dime.
If you have these you’ll be blessed,
With wonderful things in time!

Blanket

The Blanket brought warmth to a homeless man

The Blanket provided comfort to a scared little girl

The Blanket soared behind a curious superhero

The Blanket was a place mat for a picnicking family

The Blanket became clothing for a new born baby

The Blanket made a tent for some campers

And the Blanket of His love gave me life.

Rough Not Tough

A vandal

A thief

A criminal

In a town

In YOUR town.

Jini grew scared

Frightened

By the reporter’s words.

She goes up to her room

Sits in silence

Until . . .

A noise

A roar

Interrupts

Disturbs

Her thoughts.

She looks out her window

To see a man

On a motorcycle.

He looks rough

Wild hair

Black leather jacket

Hard face.

Could he be

The criminal?

He stops

Grabs a bag

Begins to search for something.

Jini wonders

What is he looking for?

A gun?

A knife?

A bat?

Then a small

Worn

Brown book

Appears in the man’s hand

With the words

Holy Bible on the cover.

He opens the book

Reads aloud.

In shock, Jini steps back,

Regretful

Feeling truly sorry.

She realized what she’s done.

She judged this man,

This stranger

Because of his appearance.

It turns out

Rough isn’t so tough after all.

How Blessed I Am

I sit here writing on my laptop, which I am very grateful for, and think about how many people on this Earth have a computer too. In this country, that's a lot! But compared to the world, having a computer is a privilege. Hey, having a toilet is a privilege! I am very thankful for my family, friends, a safe and comfy house, to be able to go to school, and so many other great things!

Whenever I am hungry, I can just walk over to the fridge and grab a snack. It is sad to think that some people around the world are dying because they don't have food.

Living in a developed country can make you forget that the lifestyle you live, the things in your bedroom, aren't everyday things for everyone.

Thinking about these things make me want to help in some way, reach out to them and tell them to have faith, hope, and that there is a light, that shines even in the darkest of times!

After thinking about everything, it really opens my eyes to how blessed I am!

No One But Him

No one can mend a broken heart
No one can fix, what has fallen apart

No one can settle a raging wave
No one can foretell the acts of the brave

No one can perfect the Shepherd’s sheep
No one can create oceans as deep

No one can cause us to rise from the dead
No one can give food to who need to be fed

No one can make the blind see
No one can give you eternity

No one can turn water to blood
No one can dry out a massive flood

No one can cleanse the heart of sin
No one can know what's truly within

No one can know what tomorrow will bring
No one can do these, but Him

The Future is Friendly . . . Or is it?

The future has many great things in store for us! New technology, cures, discoveries, and much much more!

But have you ever thought of some of the other things that could await us in the future? There could be more violence, destruction, poverty, and as you have heard many times, global warming.

With the rising population, food, and water, and even air could cause wars between once peaceful countries.

Now I'm not trying to make you feel all depressed, and bring out the negative, but who really knows what the future will be like? Should we be scared? Thrilled? I think the only thing we can try to be is prepared. And to be prepared, we need God. He knows what our next step will be in our journey. He knows everything!

So what is my point exactly? We have to keep God closer than ever because He will help us with whatever happens in the future. He will always be there for us!

Where Are Your Feet Taking You?

How beautiful your sandaled feet,
O prince's daughter!

Song of Solomon 7:1
My feet have taken me to many places. Fun places. Interesting places. Cool places. Unique places. Wherever my feet take me, I will follow. I trust them to lead me down the right paths, through the right doors. Whether I walk, run, skip, or tip-toe, I know God is in control. He will lead me. He will guide me down the right paths, through the right doors. I trust in Him wherever I go. My question is: Where are your feet taking you?

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path

Psalm 119:105

Family

Some are broken,
Some are whole,
Some are big,
Some are small,
Some are distant
Some are close,
Some are strong,
Some are weak,
But when it comes down to it,
We are all family.

Hope you liked my poem. Now a video about family by one of my fav singers! Enjoy! : )

Strength

For the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Nehemiah 8:10
God is my strength,
My rock.
He helps me,
In so many ways,
Everyday.
He lifts me up,
To be the best,
I can be.
He is stronger,
Than any athlete,
Any Christian,
Any person who walked the planet.
He can move mountains.
And with his help,
I can too.
His strength,
Is my strength,
And with God,
I am invincible!

Apple

I have written this poem in honour of the apple!

It's red, green, and yellow too
With a core in the middle, just like you
It has seeds, a stem, and maybe a worm
It is usually crunchy, juicy and firm
It is a recommended snack
That you can bring to school in your backpack
It will fill up your stomach, and stop those growls
You’ll be happy and full, with no reason to howl
Though when you’re done eating, you might just need,
To go to the backyard and plant a seed
So you can grow, your own apple tree
That will have enough apples for you and me
You’ll make apple sauce, and many apple pies
You can make apple people with seeds as their eyes
But soon you’ll get sick, and never want to see,
Another apple, but maybe
An orange
